BUNGLING burglar Michael
Bray was nicked after spending HALF-AN-HOUR chatting to Jehovah's
Witnesses who called at the house he was raiding.
Bray, 19, and his 17-year-old accomplice, were collared
on the doorstep by the Witnesses after they'd smashed a window to
get inside.
The raiders desperately tried to get rid of them - but the
brazen bible-bashers refused to budge.
In the end they only left after Bray's partner-in-crime
gave them his address and promised he'd meet them there later.
The pair of pilferers spent so long dealing with the Christians
they were still in the house in Scunthorpe, Lincs, when the owner got
back.
Amazingly, when they finally returned to the youth's
house after being collared, the two God botherers were there waiting
for them.
This time the villains had to buy a bible to get rid of
them.
Bray, who lives in Scunthorpe, was ordered to complete 100
hours community service and pay £50 costs by the town's magistrates
after admitting burglary.
His solicitor Andrew Pascoe told the court Bray and his
pal had broken a pane of glass at the house earlier in the day, and returned
later to get inside.
But when they arrived they were greeted by the two missionaries,
who were standing on the doorstep.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons,
was cautioned for his part in the crime. Last night red-faced
Bray declined to comment.
His mum Karla said: "We are all embarrassed by what happened.
The pair of them were drunk at the time.
"Michael's mate was stupid enough to give them his
address,
"But they've been back two of three times since.
They must think they've found a convert."
Jehovah's Witness jailed
for running Dope farm.
A FORMER Jehovah's Witness
who became addicted to marijuana through depression has been jailed
for a year for his role in cultivating 2,700 cannabis plants.
Jeffrey Smith was arrested last March after police discovered
four cannabis farms in the Bromley and Folkestone areas.
He admitted his role in operating the farms and was bailed.
But he was re-arrested in November after a raid uncovered a 341-plant
farm at his former home in Orpington.
Defending, Brian Stork told Croydon Crown Court 34-year-old
Smith, was the junior partner in the operation.
He said: "Smith happened to be skilled at carpentry and
the electronic trade and built the framework of the farms.
"He comes from a family of Jehovah's Witnesses but in his
adult life chose to leave the religion. Ostracism followed immediately.
"He became clinically depressed and addicted to cannabis.
He is now drug free."
Police found 840 plants at a second Folkestone address.
Another 350 plants were found in a house in Bromley.
Smith pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production
of cannabis and abstracting electricity.
Jailing Smith, who has a previous conviction for producing
the drug, Judge Thomas Joseph also ordered him to forfeit £1,500.
