Double FaultSerena sits proudly with flag

IT ALWAYS amazes us how Jehovah's Witnesses in the public eye are allowed to flout Watchtower rules on a regular basis and get away with it. It seems that if you're famous the Watchtower Society doesn't seem to care what you do.

One such example is top tennis stars Venus Williams and her sister Serena (above).

As this years Wimbledon tennis tournament got underway this week, Serena Williams was asked what she thought about the prospect of having the first black President of the USA. Serena replied:

" I'm a Jehovah's Witness, so I don't get involved in politics. We stay neutral. We don't vote. We don't get a part of those worldly things."

But is this true?
Part of the Jehovah's Witnesses rules is that no member of the organisation should salute the flag, sing or stand for the national anthem.
Venus flys flagVenus Williams carries the American flag after defeating Elena Dementieva in their Olympic gold medal tennis match.

On this alone the Williams sisters should be disfellowshipped immediately as can be seen from the pictures on this page.

And to really make our point please see below the medal ceremony from the 2000 Olympic games.

If you are a Jehovah's Witness, why does the Society let the rich and famous get away with these flagrant breaches of the rules.

Would you be allowed to sing your national anthem? Would you be proud to drape yourself in your country's flag?

Maybe you should ask the Watchtower heirarchy and find out why it doesn't matter that these high profile celebrities bring your religion into disrepute while if you were to do the same, would be asked to repent or be forced to leave the society.
